Robert Mikulik

Robert Mikulik, MD, PhD, is a Professor of Neurology and the Director of the Stroke Research Programme at St. Anne's University Hospital and Masaryk University in Brno. He is also the Chief of Physicians at Tomas Bata Hospital in Zlin, and the founder of the RES-Q registry. Prof. Mikulik is one of the co-founders of the ICRC, which is one of the biggest research infrastructural projects in the Czech Republic. His main research interests include the treatment of acute stroke, health care organisation, stroke care logistics, and raising stroke awareness. He has developed a training program that uses a simulation environment to improve decision-making and logistics of stroke teams when administering intravenous thrombolysis. In 2015, Prof. Mikulik and his team established the RES-Q Registry of Stroke Care Quality. Robert Mikulik served as a Member at Large on the Executive Committee in the European Stroke Organization from 2016 to 2017, and he chaired the ESO-EAST project, which aimed to improve stroke care in Central and Eastern European countries. He was Chair for Research at St. Anne's University Hospital in Brno from August 2019 until December 2020. He has published more than 200 articles in renowned journals and has participated in multiple national and international projects.
